Stow College opened in 1934 and was the first purpose-built Further Education College in Glasgow. Since then it has continued to shape its profile to meet the needs of its learners - both in Glasgow and throughout Scotland. The college is accredited by, and works closely with, the Scottish Qualifications Authority which has responsibility for the approval of awards in Scotland.

Home Learning College has worked with Stow College for several years to support Scottish home learners. This has enabled several thousand Scottish-based learners to access courses and improve their career prospects.
